Washington moves sage grouse onto state endangered species list

On Friday, the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission reclassified the state status listing for Greater sage-grouse from threatened to endangered. WDFW biologists remained concerned when last year’s wildfires burned over significant leks (mating grounds), and nesting and wintering habitat of the already dwindling population.

The WCA is disappointed to report the sage grouse decision, but will continue to endeavor to communicate our role in recovery and management so that our side/your voice is heard.
