The WCA Board of Directors sent a ballot to all voting members of the WCA asking for a vote regarding a proposed increase to the current Beef Checkoff. (Current checkoff is $1.50 per head, with $.50 going to the National Beef Board and $1.00 remaining in Washington State for marketing purposes aimed at raising, purchasing, and eating beef.)
Here are the results:
237 total ballots returned to the WCA by the December 1st deadline. (27.2% return rate)
169 votes in favor of an increase
68 votes in opposition of an increase
Of the 169 “Yes” votes, the following represents the total checkoff you wish to see:
54 votes for a $2.00 total checkoff ($.50 per head increase)
63 votes for a $3.00 total checkoff ($1.50 per head increase)
47 votes for a $5.00 total checkoff ($3.50 per head increase)
6 votes for a $7.00 total checkoff ($5.50 per head increase)
The WCA Board voted at their December meeting to move forward with the majority vote in presenting a $1.50 per head increase to the State Legislature in an effort to gain support for a Bill.
