The Washington Department of Ecology is proposing to roll back a policy they approved in 1994 that encouraged livestock producers to water cattle offstream in order to protect water quality and stream habitat.

Ecology is now proposing radical changes to Policy 1025. For instance, new language is being proposed requiring a water right for all stockwater, whether consumed by livestock offstream or directly out of a lake or stream!

ACTION NEEDED: Let Ecology know that you oppose their proposed changes to the stockwatering policy.
