Reports to: WCA Executive Vice President
Type of Position: Up to full‐time, hourly employment
The Communications Coordinator serves as the Editor of the Ketch Pen, WCA’s monthly membership publication. Oversees the communications and membership aspects of the organization and is responsible for meeting and event planning.
Editor of the Ketch Pen includes but not limited to: Design, produce and edit; procure appropriate content; interview/research and compose articles; secure advertising; manage budget; manage printer and USPS distribution.
Manage social media, marketing and membership emails and website.
Participate in Annual Convention planning which includes but not limited to: working with the convention committee on sponsorship and exhibitor recruitment, schedule speakers, program/banners design, work with hotel liaison for meeting space, meals, etc.
Plans and execute other member events such as: monthly and quarterly WCA meetings, Beef Day on The Hill and Legislative Day.
Maintain membership database including membership retention and recovery.
Maintain, update and distribute annually the Top Hand directory.
Assist as needed with correspondence and receptionist duties.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum of four year degree in Agriculture or Communications or equivalent knowledge and experience in the agricultural industry. Strong written and verbal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word and Access. Experience using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Willingness to travel. Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. Self‐starter with ability to work unsupervised. Ability to interact with members and industry in a friendly and personable manner.
